Webinar overview

Analytical characterization of non-alcoholic beverages

In this (free) webinar we will discuss with you the possible uses of LUMiSizer and LUMiReader PSA for direct stability determination in real time and under accelerated conditions.

Case studies include

- Flavour emulsions and colorings
- Soft drinks
- Fruit juices

With particle characterization, the LUM instruments give you a second, independent look at your sample, allowing you optimal formulation and processing.

The new temperature ramp extends direct & accelerated stability testing

In the consumer goods sector, especially for cosmetic and HPC products, rapid innovations and constantly new products are expected.

This poses great challenges for the R&D department, as there is not enough time to determine the physical storage stability in real time.

The new temperature ramp, an add-on module of the analytical centrifuge LUMiSizer, gives you advanced possibilities for analytical characterization, already very early in the formulation process.

Analytical characterization of starch, Part 2: Starch as emulsion stabilizer

New English webinar series "Analytical characterization of starch". Part 2: Starch as emulsion stabilizer.

This webinar series is aimed at users of starches in the food, paper and textile industries and provides valuable information for formulators using other polysaccharides for emulsions, suspensions, pastes and as adhesives.

In the second (free) 17-minute webinar we will focus on viscosity building starches and lipophilic starches and their use as emulsion stabilizers.

Analytical characterization of starch, Part 1: Investigation of suspensions & pastes

This webinar series is aimed at users of starches in the food, paper and textile industries and provides valuable information for formulators using other polysaccharides for emulsions, suspensions, pastes and as adhesives.

In this first (free) 20-minute webinar, we will use the properties and applications of starch to discuss the potential use of LUM meters for particle characterization, directly determining suspension stability, and economically and fast determining the adhesive strength of dried starch on surfaces.

Lubricants & Coolants, Part 3: How to analyze with LUM instruments

The third webinar starts from a different point of view: the naked eye appearance of samples, being either transparent, turbid or even dark. A silicon oil case study proves insight into the easy and fast sample ranking by the separation index. Understand the kinetics of separation when calculating the creaming velocity. The concept of comparative shelf-life analysis according to ISO/TR 13097 is demonstrated.

Lubricants & Coolants, Part 2: Stability & particulate properties of high performance lubricants

The second webinar on lubricants & coolants focuses on stability and particulate properties of high-performance lubricants. A deeper focus is set on three analysis modes as provided by SEPView® software for LUM instruments. Users of the Stability Analyser LUMiFuge® make use of the integral transmission and the instability index, while operators of the Dispersion Analyser LUMiSizer have additional access to the unique creaming velocity distribution as well as to the volume weighted droplet size distribution, including specific parameters like the Sauter diameter.

Lubricants & Coolants, Part 1: Cold Rolling

The first part puts the focus on lubricants for cold rolling applications. Three case studies are presented after a detailed introduction of LUM’s patented STEP-Technology® (Space and Time resolved measurement of Extinction Profiles) for particle, droplet and dispersion characterization. The accelerated stability testing of o/w emulsions within few minutes by using a LUMiSizer® instrument is compared with a rather complex emulsion stability index determination lasting for several hours and having a higher economic and environmental impact than the LUM method.

Analytical characterization of Crude Oil Separation - Part 2: EOR | Droplet Size Distribution

The second LUM live webinar in the series “Analytical characterization of Crude Oil Separation” focuses on the use of the LUM measuring devices LUMiReader PSA and LUMiSizer in the area of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and for determining the droplet size distribution in crude oil emulsions.

Analytical characterization of Crude Oil Separation I Part 1: DEMULSIFICATION

Watch this new LUM webinar to get answers on the three demulsification key questions: how to quantify quickly and easily the kinetics, the amount and the quality of separated water in crude oil-water emulsions.

Save energy, labour and decision time and run your demulsification tests either in real-time using the LUMiReader PSA or preferrably accelerated using LUMiSizer or LUMiFuge state-of-the-art analytical centrifuges.

From pigment to dispersion to coating - comprehensive characterization of TiO2

"From pigment to dispersion to coating - comprehensive characterization of TiO2"
continues the LUM LIVE webinar series and successfully helps our customers to develop, formulate and bring new and improved products to market.
Case studies discuss how to:
- count TiO2 particles.
- examine pulverized TiO2.
- determine particle size distributions of titaniumdioxide in suspensions.
- characterize the formulation stability of titania products in a direct way, accelerated and in real-time.

Direct and accelerated stability testing extended by temperature ramp

After the SEPAWA Conference 2020 was reduced to a solely virtual event due to COVID-19, the live talk by Dr. Arnold Uhl "Direct and accelerated stability testing extended by temperature ramp" was switched to a webinar.
This is the recorded full version.

Dr. Uhl explains an innovative method for accelerated stability testing for personal care and cosmetics products according to ISO/TR13097 and ISO/TR18811.

Fast and precise counting & sizing of every nano- & microparticle in suspensions & emulsions

Prof. Dr. Dr. Lerche, Managing Director of LUM GmbH, explains how the new LUMiSpoc® quantifies the size distribution of dispersed mono- & very polydisperse particles and counts the concentration of the particle classes by the innovative single particle light scattering (SPLS) technology.

The highly advanced LUMiSpoc® measures simultaneously fore- & sideward light scattering, features an unparalleled resolution & dynamic range, minor dilution factors and a very short measurement time.

STEP-Technology® for Particle Sizing of Raw Material for Cosmetic Products

The composition of cosmetics, HPC, paint, latice and pigment products is often characterized by complex formulations, including many ingredients of manifold nature.

For example, a moisturizing lotion with Titanium dioxide (o/w) contains 14 ingredients.

The determination of particle size distributions of individual ingredients allows for the early detection of deviations in the raw material, prior to their subsequent use in formulation.

An innovative concept for real-time & accelerated emulsion & suspension stability testing

In this recorded webinar from COSSMA 2016 you learn how to determine the dispersion stability of cosmetic formulations in real-time vs. accelerated via analytical centrifugation according to current DIN and ISO standards.

Dr. Arnold Uhl presents the technologie using the examples of an oil-water-emulsion and a nail varnish suspension.
